A Cooler Way to Walk

Termite TV’s video tours of Philadelphia allow you to break a sweat, feed your brain — and support local media makers while you’re at it

It may be freezing right now, but warmer weather is still on the way — which means more opportunities to exercise outdoors. This spring, take to the streets with “WALK PHILLY,” a series of video tours you can download onto your iPod or iPhone. Put together by Philly-based Termite TV and Open Source Philly, each video gives you insider info on a different street or neighborhood in Philadelphia, ranging from Chinatown to the Italian Market to the Liberty Lands Park in Northern Liberties.

The virtual guides are led by artists and historians, and some average Joe Philadelphians even offer personal interpretations of each place. Averaging around ten minutes, you’ll have just enough time to break a sweat and get your blood flowing. To clock enough walking time for a full-fledged workout, download more than one — they’re free!
