The Borgata Has a New $40,000 Drink on Its Menu

If you think nobody would ever buy a $40,000 drink, you don’t know casino crowds very well.

There are a lot of things you can buy for $40,000. You can order a one-bedroom tiny house with a covered deck online, free shipping included. You can give up gasoline forever and buy a Nissan Leaf SV Plus. Or, you could just go to Atlantic City and buy the new $40,000 drink at the Borgata.

The $40,000 drink is called the Bambino. It is for sale at the Borgata’s new cocktail lounge, Level One, adjacent to the Borgata’s new sportsbook, Moneyline. Both have their grand opening parties this weekend.

So what’s in a $40,000 drink? The tears of Buddha? Gold shavings from the Ark of the Covenant? Did Emilia Clark or Gal Gadot breathe on it while it rested on Angelina Jolie’s outstretched hand? Nope.

For $40,000 at the Borgata, you get the following:

• A long pour of 1940 Macallan Fine & Rare Vintage Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Bottles of these sell for between $32,000 and $50,000 online. It’s served neat, because anybody who would put ice in a 1940 Macallan is just barbaric.

• A personal check in the amount of $100 written by baseball legend Babe Ruth to his wife in 1941. The handwritten check comes with all the paperwork you need to tell you that it’s real. The check is rated Mint 10, the highest level of collectible standards.

• An antique victrola. (It’s this thing that people in the first half of the 20th Century used to play records.)

Because there’s only one $100 Babe Ruth check, there’s one and only one $40,000 drink available at the Borgata. Once somebody buys the Bambino, it’s gone.

And if you think that nobody is ever going to spend $40,000 for a drink at the Borgata, you don’t know casino crowds very well.
