South Philly’s latest BBQ spot has finally opened its doors. As of today, the restaurant-slash-butcher shop South Philly Smökhaus is slinging smoked meats, sandwiches, and sides in the Bok Building at 821 Dudley Street.

And it’s just about the prettiest barbecue place we’ve ever seen, with a vibe more like a third-wave coffee shop, if coffee shops kept huge stacks of firewood on hand and smelled like a delicious campfire. In addition to dining tables, there’s a lounge area with plush chairs and a sofa. Access the space through the large entrance about halfway down Dudley Street. It’s to the right of the Two Persons coffee stand — just look for the firewood.

The spot also serves as a source for fresh-cut meats to cook at home. Owner-pitmaster Eric Daelhousen partnered with his longtime purveyor, Robert Passio of Giunta’s Prime in Reading Terminal Market, which has its own separate counter inside the restaurant.

South Philly Smökhaus is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., and closed Monday. Check out the menu below.
