On Monday’s Tonight Show: Jimmy Fallon and Tina Fey Eat Pica’s Pizza

A couple of weeks ago, I interviewed Tonight Show writer (and Upper Darby native) Luke Cunningham about what it is like to work for Jimmy Fallon. Cunningham told me that he once bonded with fellow Upper Darbian Tina Fey over Pica’s delicious rectangular pizza.

Here’s what Cunningham had to say:

Yeah, when I did that bit for Tina Fey, I talked to her about the pizza at Pica’s. She said, “My daughter was just there for her birthday.” Tina is going to be on the show on March 3rd. [Hint to Pica’s: SEND PIZZA.]

What Cunningham also told me was that he was hoping to surprise Fey with some Pica’s pies, but he asked me not to say anything about it in that interview. Later that week, Frank Pica Sr. called me, explaining that he had read the interview and wanted to try to get some pizza to the Tonight Show.

Well, I love it when a plan comes together, even if it’s not mine. On Monday, the Tonight Show dispatched an intern to Philadelphia via train, and Frank Pica Jr. drove the pies down to 30th Street Station.

Watch Fallon and Fey enjoy a Pica’s pizza together on Monday night’s Tonight Show:

In his opening monologue, Fallon also gave a shout out to the Fox 29 reporter attacked by a snow plow.
