Wawa Now Offers Mobile App Ordering (With a Couple of Small Catches)

Only customers who have shopped in certain stores can use it (for now).

I finally found a reason to live in the suburbs.

Starting on Wednesday, Wawa began offering the option of ordering straight from the Wawa app — but only if you’ve met the secret criteria:

“Beginning February 1st, we enabled mobile ordering for Wawa Rewards members who have shopped in our Delaware County, PA, stores (using Wawa Rewards) and parts of Chester and Montgomery County as part of test phase,” Wawa spokeswoman Lori Bruce tells Philadelphia magazine. “Those customers will be able to use the enhanced functionality in all Wawa stores. We are excited to take this step and gather feedback from our customers, and we look forward to continuing to expand mobile ordering further as soon as possible.”

Got all that? If you’ve used the Wawa app before in either Delco or parts of Chester and Montco, you’ll be able to order sandwiches straight from the app at any Wawa location.

Wawa wouldn’t say when they expect the app-ordering functionality to be spread out to all users. In the meantime, there’s another small catch: Wawa won’t make your order until you get close to the store — Bruce says it’s to make sure it’s as fresh as possible — so you may need to wait a little for it.
