From draft positioning to poor safety play, here are 10 things to know about how the Eagles’ defense matches up with the Bucs’ offense.

Cosell not only analyzed the play of Nick Foles in the here and now, but put in perspective just how critical the evaluation process over the next four games will be for the Eagles.

Here is a look at the injury report for Sunday’s game between the Eagles and Buccaneers. Tampa is a 7 1/2-point favorite.

Greg Cosell was kind enough to give us his in-depth thoughts on  the play of Nick Foles through three starts.

“If he continues to play as he did against Dallas, then that’s a real positive because one thing you can say watching him against Dallas is that he looked like an NFL quarterback, which he didn’t the previous two games,” said Cosell.

The Eagles’ pass-rush had some good moments early against the Cowboys, but was non-existent in the second half when Tony Romo completed all 10 of his pass attempts.

After the game, Andy Reid announced that the team was parting ways with Jim Washburn, although he admitted that the game’s results had little to do with his decision.

Meanwhile, Brandon Graham got the start for Jason Babin, and Vinny Curry was active for the second time this season, as the Eagles went with a 10-man rotation.

When asked if he’s consciously changed the play-calling to protect Nick Foles, Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg did not hesitate with his response.

“Absolutely. There’s no question about that,” he said.

Against the Cowboys, the Eagles turned in one of their best offensive performances of the season, coming away with points on six of 10 possessions. The balance was there. Foles dropped back to pass 35 times and handed it off 26 times for a 57 percent/43 percent split.

Amid reports that Jim Washburn had become a disruptive, divisive presence on the Eagles’ coaching staff, Todd Bowles said today he never had an issue with the defensive line coach.

“Me and Wash had a good relationship,” Bowles said. “Wash is a good man, and he’s a good coach. He was never a problem for me.”

Did Bowles have any input into Andy Reid’s decision to let Washburn go?

Here’s a look at Nick Foles’ performance against the Cowboys, using the All-22 tape.

Greg Schiano was asked to weigh in on the Chip Kelly debate Wednesday, and he probably didn’t even know it.

The line of questioning by the Philly media: Just how important is having some NFL coaching experience in your history to making a successful head-coaching transition from college to the pros? Schiano pointed out that his Bucs are sitting at .500 through 12 games, so he’s not sure how successful he’s been. But he made it clear that it was a big plus for him.

“I think the biggest thing for me is I was fortunate enough to have coached in the National Football League back in the late ’90s so I had a frame of reference of what kind of went on,” said Schiano.

Todd Herremans came wheeling through the locker room early Wednesday afternoon on one of those Roll-A-Bout’s, undoubtedly to the disapproval of Jason Peters.

Wearing a large cast on his right leg, he stopped long enough to provide us with an update.

Jake Scott doesn’t have some dramatic tale to tell about how he spent time preparing for his return to the NFL.

“Worked out four times a week at Vanderbilt,” Scott said. “Stay in shape. Do what I needed to do to be ready.”

That was it. An unsigned free agent for the first 10 weeks of the season, Scott did some work in the weight room. Some conditioning. Maybe a session on the field. Usually no more than 90 minutes per day.

Cullen Jenkins painted a different picture of Jim Washburn than the one that has been circulating this week. Rather than an out-of-control, divisive figure, Jenkins sees his former defensive line coach as a  misunderstood motivator with the best of intentions.

“Wash was a good coach. He just wanted the best for us,” said Jenkins. “People may not agree with his ways or saw what his goals were for us — I’m talking about people from the outside looking in — but Wash was a good coach. He had us motivated and playing hard.”
