SoBol Is Opening a Second Açaí Bowl Shop in Philly

We can’t quite put our finger on what makes SoBol so delicious. Maybe it’s the fact that the New York franchise, which serves up açaí and pitaya bowls and smoothies, is pretty generous with the granola. Maybe it’s because they’ve got toppings like cookie butter on the menu. Maybe it’s just because the açaí addiction is real, guys.

Whatever it is, we’ve known since they opened their Rittenhouse location in April that’d we’d gladly eat the stuff out of the trash.  For that reason, we were pretty excited to hear that SoBol is expanding their Philly footprint with a second location in University City. Oh, and this new location will be bigger — way bigger.

While the Rittenhouse shop holds just 21 seats, the new University City eatery will have space for 40 to sit in their 1,716-square-foot cafe. The menu you’ve come to know and love at SoBol Rittenhouse will remain the same though, so your go-to order is safe. The bowls and smoothies will still come in different sizes as well — from the $5.95 kids açaí bowl to the $12.95 super bowl.

Though SoBol is still fairly new on the scene in Philadelphia, owners Mike Quinn and Dan Nestor are feeling confident about adding a second location.

“The store’s first venture outside of the New York area saw the single best opening month that any of the 22 current SoBol locations have ever seen, and opening in the heart of a major university in the fourth largest city in the U.S. is giving us even higher expectations for our second location,” says Quinn. “We expect our University City SoBol to be very busy.”

SoBol University City is slated to open in late August, with a tentative opening date of August 22. SoBol will be located at 3736 Spruce Street, and you can check out the menu here.
