Fastest half marathon dressed as a fruit: Yes, that is a Guinness World Record that has been set in the past and now, local runner Bill Ling is planning to try and break that record at the ODDyssey Half Marathon coming up June 14th. He’ll be dressed as a banana, in case you were wondering.

The current world record for the fastest half marathon dressed as a fruit is 1:25:45. So Ling, the marketing and events coordinator at Bryn Mawr Running Company, will have to beat that time donned in a full-on fruit get-up. It shouldn’t be too hard though: His PR for a half marathon is 1:14:18. But, then again, there’s no telling how much his peel will weigh him down.

And who knows? Ling’s attempt to set the world record might be just what his fellow ODDyssey runners need to PR on the big day. As race director Carl Ewald said in a press release, “There is no better motivation to run faster at the finish than to make sure you do not lose to that guy in the banana costume.”

If you want to be there to witness the record breaking for yourself, there are still a few spots in the race. You can find out more about it and register here.
