Where to Find Free Workouts Every Day of the Week in Philly



Don’t want to pony up for a gym membership? No problem. There are free workouts happening around Philly every day of the week—you just have to know where to look. Here, seven no-cost workout options—from yoga to boot camps to group bike rides—to fill your calendar.

Monday

What: Point Breeze Runners Run Club // Three-to-five-mile runs in South Philly. Runs typically end at a bar (natch).

Where: 20th and Federal

When: Mondays at 7 p.m.

Tuesday

What: Philly Fit Club’s Beachbody Workout // Expect 40- to 50-minute sessions of Insanity, P90X and more from Beachbody.

Where: Hopkinson House Owners Association, 604 South Washington Square, Philadelphia.

Wednesday

What: All-Levels Workout at the Art Museum // Grassroots fitness movement the November Project, which is in seven cities in the U.S. and Canada, just came to Philly. It’s so new, in fact, that details about the Philly meet-ups aren’t even on the Project’s website yet. Even still, Philadelphians are waking up at the crack of dawn for the free a.m. workouts at the Art Museum steps. The workouts change weekly (expect circuits, H.I.I.T. workouts, timed races, etc.), but are suitable for all fitness levels. The group meets in pretty much every weather condition.

Where: Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia.

When: Wednesdays at 6:25 a.m. Workouts typically last about 40 minutes.

Thursday

What: City Sports Run Club // Free group runs from the Center City store. Participants occasionally get to test out new gear, win prizes and more.

Where: City Sports, 1608 Walnut Street, Philadelphia.

Friday

What: Pay-What-You-Can Hot Yoga // Okay, okay so the suggested donation is $15 but you can put in less (or, well, nothing) if you really want to.

Where: Hotbox Yoga, 4163 Main Street, Manayunk.

Saturday

What: Saturday Shop Rides with Breakaway Bikes // Free group bike rides led by friendly Breakaway staffers. The group usually completes between 57 and 70 miles, which is suitable for intermediate to advanced riders, but on the first Saturday of the month they host 40-mile, 15-miles-per-hour novice rides in collaboration with Center City’s Shake Shake restaurant. Those rides end at Shake Shack (20th and Sansom) where the first round of drinks are free.

Where: Breakaway Bikes, 1923 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia.

Sunday

What: All-Levels Flow Yoga with Lululemon Walnut Street // The schedule changes seasonally, but right now (and through February 16th) the free weekly Lululemon yoga classes are at Anjali Power Yoga on Sunday mornings. Keep tabs on Lulu’s calendar for changes.

Where: Anjali Power Yoga, 1519 South Street, Philadelphia.

When: Sundays at 12 p.m.
