13 Races to Keep You Moving This Fall

From 5Ks and marathons to obstacle courses and scavenger hunts, here are 13 local the races to check out this season

OCTOBER

Urban Dare
Solve clues to hunt down checkpoints, where you tackle challenges or take photos of your team performing ridiculous dares, all while covering 5 to 7 miles. SEPTA and smartphones are allowed.

When: October 1st at noon

Rest in Peace 5K Run
A creepy evening race through East Falls will get you in the Halloween spirit. Costumes encouraged.

When: October 1st at 5 p.m.

AIDS Run Philly
Run this 5K race to raise money for the AIDS Fund, which provides services to over 30,000 people in the Delaware Valley. There’s also a 12K walk, if you’re up for a long jaunt.

Halloween Hustle
A trek out to Hershey is worth it for this race. Indulge in a chocolate bar while you’re there.

NOVEMBER

Y12K Race
Race a scenic 7.45 mile route along Martin Luther King Drive and help raise money for WHYY.

When: November 12th at 9 a.m.
Where: Martin Luther King Drive near the Art Museum

Rothman Institute 8K
The Rothman’s a pre-cursor to the  Philly marathon and half-marathon events, making for a two-day racing crescendo.

When: November 19th at 7:30 a.m.
Where: 22nd Street & Benjamin Franklin Parkway

Philadelphia Marathon
Winding from the Art Museum to Old City and way up into Fairmount Park, this course provides the most scenic and historic Philly tour you’ll ever experience.

When: November 20th at 7 a.m.

Abington YMCA Gobble Wobble
A Thankgiving Day 5K is a great way to burn off that pumpkin pie—plus, it’s faster than a football game.
