BWP Giveaway: Win a SpinGym!

The take-anywhere device that wipes out arm wiggle

Win a SpinGym and have tighter arms by summer!

You may have heard of the SpinGym a few years ago, when its creator, actress-turned-exercise-maven Forbes Riley, launched the arm-shaping, yo-yo-esque device on the Discovery series PitchMen in 2009. I, however, hadn’t heard of the celebrity-endorsed flab-fighter (Tori Spelling, William Shatner and cast members of Glee have been reported to use it), and after seeing an ad for it in the upper corner of our Be Well Philly Facebook page, I quickly decided I needed to give it a test run—and to give one away to a BWP reader!  After all, summer is only a few months away, and if there’s anything I could do to help all of us arrive at tank-top season feeling even a twinge more confident about our arms, I’m all for it. (Find out how to enter for your chance to win a SpinGym at the end of this post!)

The SpinGym arrived in the mail a few days ago, and, at first, I wasn’t sure what to do with the odd-looking, stainless-steel disc and string. So, I buried my nose in the little instruction booklet. A few minutes later, two co-workers came in to find me SpinGym-ing it up in my office. They, too, had never heard of the contraption, so we passed it around.

Here’s how you get it going: Holding a stainless-steel ring in each hand, you spin the weighted disc away from your body until the string is twisted and tight; you then begin pulling the rings back and forth, creating up to 20 pounds of resistance with each pull. This action is supposed to tone your upper arm and wipe out wiggle from your triceps.

Surprisingly, we could definitely feel the effort in our arms. Whether the five-minutes-a-day recommendation will truly give us strong, First Lady-like arms is yet to be seen. Want to try it out yourself?  Follow the directions below for a chance to win your very own SpinGym!
