This Event at Scarlett Alley Will Teach You What Glassware You Should Be Registering For

I remember having a lot of questions about what, exactly, I needed for my future life when I was registering, and glassware was definitely among them: Wine glasses, obviously, put did we need different red and white glasses to be proper entertaining adults? Those martini glasses were so pretty, but did we need them? Which shape beer glasses do we get? What on earth will we ever do with those shot glasses my husband keeps picking up in Crate & Barrel? Are we really going to throw shot-taking parties? It was all a lot, and while I think we did pretty well with our selections, it would have been nice to have an expert just give us some guidelines and recommendations.

That’s why we thought our engaged couples might like to know that next week, Liz Scarlett, owner of Old City’s home and gift boutique Scarlett Alley (they’ve got a killer bridal registry) is holding an event during which she will tell you what glasses are what, and what you should get. Here’s the deal:

• It’s Wednesday, April 5th from 5-7:30pm
• During the event, Liz will go through everything when it comes to glassware, including the difference between an aperitif and a cordial, and why you might like to register for some stemless flutes or coupe champagne glasses or all-purpose “bowl” glasses. Various glasses will also be displayed with notes suggesting their use.
• Since glassware is the theme of the night, they will of course be serving some of their beautiful glasses filled with refreshments! Bartender Missy Interdonato from Pub & Kitchen will be there, making cocktails with Bang Candy syrups (think lavender mint added to bubbly or habanero lime mixed into a vodka spritzer). There will be light bites, too.
• The staff will be ready to assist any couples who want to get to registering that very night.
• With any purchase, you’ll be entered to win the darling set of Roost aperitif glasses that you see above.
• If you see and share one of the shop’s social media posts, you’ll receive 10 percent off your purchases that evening.

The event is free and open to anyone who’d like to learn about this stuff. Go, and have a much less stressful experience filling your drinkware cabinets than I did.
