Dog-Friendly Restaurants and Bars in Philadelphia

Human dates are arguably overrated. Instead, take your pup out to these Philly spots.

There are tons of outdoor restaurants and bars around Philly where you can bring that fluffy thing that lives in your home rent-free. And we see no reason that your dog should stay home while you have all the fun this summer. (Okay, truthfully, we just want to pet your dogs.) Here are some of the best places to bring your pooch in Philadelphia for an outdoor meal.

Cantina Los Caballitos

1651 East Passyunk Avenue, East Passyunk
Human dates are arguably overrated. Instead, take your pup on a date to Cantina Los Caballitos. This Mexican restaurant welcomes dogs with diners seated in the outdoor patio. Plus dogs receive a complimentary water bowl, while humans can focus on guac and tequila flights.

Cherry Street Pier

121 North Christopher Columbus Boulevard, Old City
With a nice breeze and gorgeous views of the Ben Franklin Bridge, Cherry Street Pier is one of the best places to hang for the summer. Although they must be kept on leashes, dogs are invited to join owners as they buy drinks and snacks from the Garden at Cherry Street Pier or French Toast Bites.

Evil Genius Beer Garden

1727 N Front Street, Kensington
Next time you want to drink a “Stacy’s Mom” IPA or enjoy a “Purple Monkey Dishwasher” porter, feel free to bring your dog to Evil Genius’s beer garden stationed next door to the brewpub. Water bowls are available for thirsty pups.

Craft Hall

901 North Delaware Avenue, Northern Liberties
Craft Hall has a dog park where dogs can go off-leash in more than 2,000 square feet of fenced-in park space. There are even dog cocktails (called — and we can’t make this up — dogua fresca). Humans should probably stick to Craft Hall’s broad selection of beer and food, though.

Fiore Fine Foods

757 South Front Street, Queen Village
Treat your dog to a walk through the parks on Front Street before settling in for a fried chicken sandwich (or morning buns, or a breakfast sandwich) at Fiore’s brunch. The staff will be more than happy to bring out a bowl of water for the dog, and you’ll be satisfied knowing everyone gets what they wanted. You can always pre-order breakfast pastries and sandwiches ahead of time if you’d rather opt for grab-and-go.

Memphis Taproom

2331 E. Cumberland Street, Kensington
Stop what you’re doing and go look at how happy the dogs at Memphis Taproom look. Your pup deserves the same. This Kensington bar welcomes pets in its summer beer garden, which opens at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday. The taproom closes at 1 a.m. on weekends for all of the (literal) party animals of Philadelphia.

Morgan’s Pier

221 N. Christopher Columbus Boulevard, Old City
This Delaware Riverfront spot holds monthly events (every first Monday of the month, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.) for you and your pup. Plus, all of the proceeds from their Yappy Hour go to the Pennsylvania SPCA.

Parc

227 S 18th Street, Rittenhouse
Bonjour, chiens. Naturally the best Stephen Starr restaurant in Philly allows man’s best friend to dine by your side. The scene-y French brasserie welcomes dogs in its outdoor dining area (which is where you should be sitting in the summer months anyway). Dogs receive a complimentary bowl of water, and after dinner, you can take them for a stroll through Rittenhouse Square across the street.

Pentridge Station

5116 Pentridge Street, West Philadelphia
West Philly’s Pentridge Station — created in partnership with the Eritrean and Ethiopian restaurant Dahlak —plays host to a rotating cast of food pop-ups. It’s an ideal spot for dogs to sniff around, since the space used to be an abandoned lot and is now a gorgeous open area with lots of seating and flowers. Starting June 3rd, Pentridge Station is open every Friday through Sunday from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., usually with live music and plenty of community events.

Sunset Social

129 South 30th Street, University City
Not only is Sunset Social dog-friendly, it also has a small dog park set in the center of the green, so you can let your pup run free for a few minutes while you wait for your burger and fries. Yappy Hour is hosted every Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m., when Morris Animal Refuge is on-site with adoptable pups. Enjoy a puppy wide: a hot dog and a beer for $8. Weekly Yappy Hour runs from June 1st through August.

K’Far
110 South 19th Street, Rittenhouse Square
If you dog wants to see and be seen (or you do), you’re going to Rittenhouse Square. But you probably need a snack first, so we recommend grabbing a mini chocolate babka or a bagel sandwich at K’Far. It’s your choice whether or not you and your dog eat them on the patio or in the park, but you really can’t go wrong either way.

Other Half Brewing
1002 Canal Street, Fishtown
Brooklyn-based Other Half Brewing Company took over what used to be Goose Island Brewing, turning the huge yard into a super dog-friendly brewery space where you can snack on a whole lot of IPAs, plus snacky things like jalapeño poppers, smoked trout dip, burgers, and more.

Sally

2229 Spruce Street, Fitler Square
Sally’s spacious outdoor seating allows for dogs to make themselves comfortable (even if they will be jealous of your sourdough pizza and natural wine). The staff, who are consistently some of the nicest people in Philadelphia, are happy to give your dog a rub behind the ears and bring out a bowl of water.

White Dog Cafe

Multiple locations
With a name like that, it would be outrageous for White Dog not to be dog-friendly. Paintings of pups line the walls and statues of schnauzers stand guard at the doors, and dogs can join human diners at outdoor tables. White Dog servers provide treats and water bowls for furry guests.

Wissahickon Brewing Company

3705 W. School House Lane, East Falls
How many times has your dog been stuck with plain water while you enjoy an artisanal IPA? Wissahickon Brewing Company shares that grainy goodness with pups who visit their Tasting Room, as spent grain from beer production is used to produce treats for canine companions. And with special events held at the bar (like adoption days and pet costume contests), Wissahickon is a must-visit spot this summer. Plus, they usually have some great food trucks.
