WATCH: Tracy Morgan Opens Up in Tearful First Interview Since New Jersey Car Crash

On the Today show this morning, Matt Lauer interviewed Tracy Morgan in what was the comedic actor’s first sit-down interview since the fatal car crash he was in last June. In the clip, Morgan sheds tears when talking about his friend and fellow comedian James McNair, who was killed in the crash.

The case is settled, but the pain is always going to be there for Jimmy Mac,” Morgan told Lauer. “Bones heal, but the loss of my friend will never heal.”

He also talked about his own recovery process: “There are times where I have my good day and my bad days, where I forget things. … There are times where I get the headaches, and the nose bleeds. I won’t even let my lady know because I don’t want her to be worried about it.” He also repeatedly thanked friends and family who called to check on him throughout his recovery, including Upper Darby native and his 30 Rock co-star Tina Fey.
