Open Enrollment for 2015 began on November 15 and continues through February 15. For coverage beginning on January 1, the deadline to enroll is December 15. (Special enrollment periods may also apply after qualifying life events like job loss, moving, marriage, or the birth of a child.) Last year, 10.3 million uninsured adults gained health coverage during the first Open Enrollment under the Affordable Care Act, says a study published in The New England Journal of Medicine. More than 165,000 individuals in southeastern Pennsylvania purchased plans from Independence Blue Cross. Eighty percent enrolled through the Pennsylvania federal Marketplace while the rest enrolled directly through insurers, brokers, and telesales agents.
During last year’s open enrollment, nine out of ten consumers in the Philadelphia region chose Independence Blue Cross for health care coverage. Find more information on how Independence Blue Cross can be a part of your plan for health and wellness.
