Brides-and grooms-to-be certainly know how stressful the search for a wedding venue can be. It’s hard enough to find a venue that matches the vision of your big day, let alone one that isn’t booked for years to come.

But the newest addition to the URBN family, Terrain Gardens at Delaware Valley University in Doylestown, promises a cool farm-to-table experience—and it’s available for you to book for your big day. Building upon its sister sites in Devon and Glen Mills, this Doylestown venue that includes retail space and a cafe while offering a beautiful backdrop with a barn-inspired aesthetic.

“People have struggled to find a date in 2023 or 2024 because of postponements and the circumstances of the last two years,” says Brianna Alcorn, the director of sales at Terrain. “With this new space, we’re merging everything that’s great about what we do and the surrounding community on one property.”

Terrain’s new venue has plenty of open dates, presenting an opportunity for an elegant backdrop for your wedding. Here’s what you need to know about the venue and how you can find the perfect date to tie the knot.

A Field-to-Fork Experience

Terrain’s collaboration with Delaware Valley University is a true partnership. The farm-forward school grows its own produce and has students whose coursework includes hands-on farming, creating further opportunities for cross-collaboration at the venue.

This farm-to-table approach, or, as Delaware Valley University Dean of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Dr. Broc Sandelin, calls it, “field-to-fork,” is unique to Terrain’s new space. This means that in addition to locally sourced produce, food produced on the campus will also be incorporated into the menu.

What’s more, Terrain will be providing internship opportunities for students who want to learn the ins and outs of its craft.

“We wanted a partner who could provide opportunities for students and faculty and the campus community to be involved,” says Kathy Howell, Delaware Valley University’s associate vice president of marketing and communications. “When you have a wedding at this space, you’ll be served a lot of what we at the university produce on campus.”

As for the wedding planning, if, for example, you want both indoor and outdoor components for your reception, Terrain Gardens at Delaware Valley University is equipped to provide that. If you’d like to extend your cocktail hour and mingle longer with your guests, Terrain can make it happen. The venue even has a covered porch and outdoor lounge space next to its community garden overlooking the Doylestown countryside.

“We’re a one-stop shop,” Alcorn says. “We really feel that this venue design is our best yet — at 150 people, it allows us to capitalize on our capacity.”

An important part of planning a wedding is keeping up with the latest trends. And because Terrain has a decade of wedding planning experience under its belt, its teams know the things modern day couples are looking for.

Here’s how it works: about six months before your wedding day, couples will start coordinating with Terrain’s event managers. They’ll help you iron out the big details and major decisions like floral arrangements, design aesthetics and food menus, to name a few examples.

From there, Terrain will consult with its culinary team, waitstaff and even those farming in the fields at Delaware Valley University to provide direction as to what to expect for each ceremony. Every couple has their own vision for their wedding, and at Terrain, staff from the kitchen to the event planners are there to make it all happen.

“Having a Terrain backdrop creates a special opportunity for couples,” Alcorn says. “It’s incredibly unique. People want to be surrounded in intimate settings but they also want to be able to host everyone. Bucks County is a beautiful area, and with Terrain Gardens at Delaware Valley University, we’re building upon everything that came before us and making it our own.”

As of now, Terrain is taking inquiries for its open dates from July 1, 2023 onward into 2024. For more information, head here
