The Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation (PARC) doesn’t mess around. When they say that the triangular traffic island at Passyunk Avenue, Mifflin and 13th Streets is going to be converted into a better public flex space along the lines of the Singing Fountain, they mean it. The above is a brief update from the Facebook page of the East Passyunk Crossing Civic Association. It shows the place where a shoddy green newsstand once stood as little more than a tract of dirt.

Next up, better lighting, some seating and landscaping. The Passyunk Post reported last week that PARC plans to have the work completed by the annual car show in July. At this rate, it might be sooner, rather than later.
