Oyster Ice Cream Is Either the Grossest or Best Thing Ever
We hardly need an excuse to hang out in the beautiful dining room at Oyster House, leisurely devouring those fresh, briny snacks from the sea.
But this Saturday, shellfish fans will have the chance to try some extra-special oysters: the master shuckers will be featuring only varieties of locally farmed oysters and clams — six varieties — raised in New Jersey waters.
Oh, and when you buy a dozen, you’ll get a free scoop of oyster ice cream. Yum?
Owner Sam Mink chose oysters from the farmers at 40 North in Barnegat Bay, Sweet Amalia and Betsy’s Cape Shore Salts in Cape May, and Elder Point in Port Norris, plus littleneck and cherrystone clams raised in the region, too.
And if that’s not enough local shellfish goodness for one day, Oyster House is offering a special treat for free to anyone who orders a dozen local oysters on Saturday: a scoop of oyster-flavored ice cream made in collaboration with the old-school ice cream fanatics at Franklin Fountain. It’s served in an oyster shell, of course, and more than 100 local oysters went into the recipe.
The all-local oyster menu — including the ice cream — is offered from 11:30 a.m. until 11 p.m. this Saturday only, October 21st.
