See Inside Maximalist Studios, One of Philly’s Coolest New Wedding and Event Venues

Maximalist Studios is a white-walled dream, and you can experience it for yourself at an open house this weekend.

Last month, we were lucky enough to get a first-hand experience of Maximalist Studios, a beautiful new photo studio and event space in Norristown. The creative vision of longtime magazine editor and art director Eddie Ross (you’ve seen his work in House Beautiful, Better Homes & Gardens, and Martha Stewart Living, among others) along with his partner Jaithan Kochar, Maximalist Studios is poised to be the blank slate, natural-light-filled event venue that Philly has been craving—and we could not be more excited about the fact that it will be hosting weddings and other private events starting in May of this year.

The beauty of Maximalist is tough to capture in words, but here goes: Situated on the banks of the Schuylkill River, Maximalist Studios is a versatile 8,5000-square-foot wedding and event space with high ceilings, big windows, and white brick walls. Guests enter the space via a styled-up freight elevator—picture carpets and furniture staged to match the specs of your event—and enter directly into the salon, where pieces from Ross’s personal—and exhaustive—furniture and prop collection await in inviting vignettes. The salon also includes a chef’s kitchen for cooking demos and smaller events.

With white floors and white walls, the main event space is attached directly to the salon, can hold up to 150 guests for a seated dinner, and is ready to take on any look you may desire for your Big Day. Couples can work directly with Ross to incorporate pieces from the extensive prop, furniture, and tabletop collection he keeps on-site, bring on their own team of vendors to make their vision come to life, or opt for a custom combination of both approaches. The options feel limitless, which is precisely what makes us so pumped—and also what makes the potential of Maximalist difficult to capture in a few short paragraphs.

Thankfully, there’s an opportunity to experience Maximalist Studios IRL this weekend. After we posted a tour of the space on our Instagram account, Maximalist received enough inquires to decide to host an open house this weekend. The Maximalist Studios wedding venue tour for engaged couples will take place this upcoming Saturday, February 23rd starting at 10:30 a.m. (A separate introduction for wedding professionals is planned for May.) Interested couples can sign up for the tour here, and the studio address is 501 W. Washington Street #3, Norristown, Pennsylvania 19401.
