After all these years of watching Say Yes to the Dress, you’re probably well aware of the many dos and don’ts of shopping for your wedding gown (for example: do come prepared with photos and an idea of the styles of dresses you like, and don’t bring along every single member of your very opinionated family).

We’ve gone over them before, but since the dress-shopping process can be quite stressful and pressure-filled if you don’t approach it the right way, we’re always happy to pass along additional tips for making your bridal shop experience as positive as possible.

That’s where these nine bits of expert advice come in: Sisters Ashley and Brittany Castanos, of the New York-based bridal line Daughters of Simone, have witnessed their fair share of dress appointments, and they’re sharing their wisdom for how to make the most of your time in the bridal shop: limit your entourage, arrive at your appointment looking your best (blowout, makeup; so you’re in dress-up mode) and remember that your opinion is the most important are a few of their key tips.

You’ll have to flip through a few slides about the Castanos and their pretty shop before getting to the tips, but we promise their advice is worth the read.
