The couple: Kristina Herb and Joe Rahusen, from Philadelphia.

The ring: My ring is rose gold, with a princess-cut diamond (or a “damn near perfect” cut, as my fiancé puts it!). He definitely did his homework before deciding on a ring, and ended up getting it from a wholesale jeweler in New York.

He never once asked me what kind of ring I would want, but got a lot of help from my wonderful sister, who did know exactly what type of ring I wanted.

The proposal: I moved to Florida back in January for work and flew up to visit Joe one weekend in April. He knew how much I missed Philadelphia and being home, so he planned a Philly day for us to go have lunch at our favorite restaurant, The Continental (I love the lobster mac; we will most likely be doing our rehearsal dinner there!), and to see the Phillies face off against the Braves.

We were walking from lunch through Love Park, and we stopped to take a picture in front of the statue. A very kind family behind us in line offered to take our picture, and that is when Joe got down on one knee and proposed, and everyone in the park clapped and cheered! I said yes and was waiting for our families to pop out of the bushes or something, but no one did, and I was a little sad that none of our family was there.

So we hopped on the subway and headed for Xfinity Live for a drink before the game. We walked into Xfinity, and at the first table by the door sat both of our families, and again everyone started clapping and cheering. I was so happy that our family surprised us. We had some champagne and headed to the Ball Park. I had no idea that all of that was going to happen when I flew up for the weekend! It was a beautiful day in Philadelphia and I couldn’t have been happier!

The band: I’m not sure what type of band I want, but it will most likely be rose gold, as well. I can’t get enough of that color!
