Ask the Expert: I’m Paying for My Bridesmaids’ Hair & Makeup. Do I Need to Get Them Something Else?
Q: I’m going to pay for my bridesmaids to have their hair and makeup done the morning of the wedding. Is it okay to make that their gift, or should I also be getting them jewelry or something else?
Though paying for your bridal party’s hair and makeup is a generous gesture, “a small token of appreciation should also be considered as a gift that the girls can keep long after the wedding has passed,” says wedding planner Kelsey Gilland of Chester County’s A Little Soireé. “An additional thank-you to your girls would really mean a lot to them.”
The role of bridesmaid is one you bestow upon the ladies who mean the most to you, and a thoughtful memento will show them how much you value their dedication and support—and let them remember such a special day in your friendship every time they look at it.
