Bride-to-be Blogger Carly: An Introduction!

New Bridal Bulletin bridal blogger Carly, and her fiance Sean.

Hey, Philly Brides!

My name is Carly, and I’m a new bride-to-be blogger!  I’m really excited to share my ongoing planning with all of you, and I hope that you’ll leave comments full of shared experiences (so I know I’m not alone!) and advice.

I have been engaged to my awesome fiancé for just about three months now, having been together a little over two years before that. When Sean and I met, he was finishing up law school and I was about to complete my master’s in college counseling. We were both living in Delaware at the time. Sean lived in Wilmington, and I was in Newark at the University of Delaware. We met at a bar called Catherine Rooney’s and hit it off. We soon went on our first date and the rest is history.

Sean is now an attorney in Wilmington and I work as an advisor for honors students at Drexel. I convinced Sean to move with me from Wilmington to the big city last August and we absolutely love it! But, while we love spending time eating our way around the city, we are beach people at heart. I grew up spending my summers in Stone Harbor (shout out to 110), and Sean grew up on the other side of the ferry in Lewes, DE. When the weather is warm you will find us either down the shore or at the beach (these are the phrases we use to distinguish Stone Harbor from Lewes, which some find confusing, unless you grew up around here).  We debated having our wedding down the shore versus in the city, but Philadelphia ultimately won out and we’re both really happy with this decision.

After Sean’s May 12th proposal, we hurried to secure our venue and set our date since we knew we wanted a June wedding and heard the competition for summer weekends would be stiff (more about our search for the perfect venue in a future blog). We checked out a couple venues but fell in love with the Down Town Club in Old City, and chose June 29th for our date. Since we live in Old City and feel that it has really become a part of our lives and our relationship, we thought it would be really fun to share our city with our guests.

I’m thrilled to be sharing this journey with you (as they say on the Bachelor) and am really looking forward to the next 11 months of planning! I have no clue what I’m doing (thank goodness for the internet and all of the checklists and timelines available and of course my wonderful bridesmaids) so I hope you’ll chime in with suggestions!

xo Carly
