Former Philly Mag Pinup Pup to Cover DNC With SEPTA’s K-9 Unit

Look for Quest on the Broad Street subway while the Dems are in town.

When last we reported on Quest back in the September 2014 issue of Philly Mag, the German shepherd was a 10-week-old pup on his first day of training at the Penn Vet Working Dog Center, trotting through the hallways of an abandoned building in West Philly to play hide-and-seek with his trainer.

Well, look who’s all grown up!

Quest, born on December 7, 2013, and named for Quest Sullivan, a German shepherd who was deployed at the site of the World Trade Centers after 9/11, joined SEPTA’s K-9 unit after graduating from the Working Dog Center in 2015 and underwent further training in explosives detection.

Now we’ve received word that Quest’s newest assignment will be patrolling for SEPTA with handler Richard Donaldson of the transit police during the four-day Democratic National Convention later this month. Congratulations, Quest! We’re proud to say we knew you way back when, when you were chasing balls in the clear blue waters of Great Adventure. And hey! Hey! Let’s be careful out there!
