The Best Thing That Happened This Week

Everything old is new again. Even The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

So this week brought news of a revival of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, the early-’90s TV show that starred Will Smith as a fish-out-of-water West Philadelphian in L.A. This was the same week that saw the release of a film version of the 1960s TV series The Man From U.N.C.L.E., and that news broke that John Stamos celebrated his revival of late-1980s-early-’90s TV show Full House (to be called Fuller House) at a pool party with his old castmates. (It was also the week in which indicted Pennsylvania A.G. Kathleen Kane invented a movie called Boondog Millionaire, but we digress.) This in a summer that already has seen remakes of Mad Max, Terminator, Mission: Impossible, Poltergeist, Entourage, Ted, Pitch Perfect, Magic Mike, Fantastic Four, Avengers, Vacation … All of which goes to show that we are indeed in the End Times, in which no one will ever again have an original thought or create an original work of art because the lures of technology have sapped from us — OMG, it’s Philly Window Cat Day!!!
