Police seeking the driver in the Southwest Philly tragedy.

A 4-year-old boy was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver Monday night. Police are still seeking the driver.

6ABC:

The hit-and-run accident happened around 6:30 p.m. Monday near the intersection of 57th and Litchfield Streets.

“I noticed a little, young boy coming out of the street right behind us,” witness Jerome Eskridge told Action News. “When he got he into the middle of the street, I heard a lady holler, ‘Go back! Go back!'”

Surveillance video, too graphic to show in its entirety, shows how the driver struck the child, sending him 15 feet down the roadway.

CBS Philly:

According to Philadelphia Police, the four-year-old boy was taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the vehicle, described as a black SUV, fled northbound on 57th Street.

NBC10 adds:

The incident occurred less than an hour before another hit-and-run in Philadelphia. In that crash a mother and her 3-year-old son were struck in the Kensington section of the city. They are both in critical condition.
