Sen. Bob Casey Causes 22-Minute Air Force One Delay

Was checking the status of "important votes."

ABC News reports Sen. Bob Casey delayed President Obama’s trip to Pennsylvania on Wednesday by 22 minutes, before “sprinting” across the tarmac to join Air Force One before it took off from Washington D.C.

A spokeswoman for Casey said the senator was checking on the status of “some important votes” and then hit a snag.

“Senator Casey had to double check on the timing of some important votes this afternoon so was delayed slightly and then hit some traffic,” April Mellody, a spokeswoman for Casey, said in an e-mail to ABC News.

Casey was joining the president for an event on worker retirement at the United States Steel Corporation’s Irvin Plant in West Mifflin, Pa.
