Starting Next Week, SEPTA No Longer Cares If You’re a Man or a Woman

SEPTA, in addition to hiking fares next week, is eliminating gender designations that have long adorned their SEPTA passes. (The decision was made last year, but takes effect July 1st.) Transgender rights groups, which have argued that the “M” and “F” symbols are discriminatory, helped force the change. Well, along with the gender-neutral bathrooms Jim Kenney and co. are forcing down our throats, it looks like Philadelphia is waging a veritable war on gender.

The original point of the stickers, by the way? To prevent couples from sharing passes. So, if you think about it, this is really just a way to give straight couples the same right to cheat that gay couples have long had. [Philly.com]
