Jersey Reports First Case of Meningitis Linked to Outbreak
The New Jersey Department of Health has reported that a 70-year-old Cumberland County man is the state’s first case of fungal meningitis linked to an outbreak that has now spread across several states. He reportedly received one of the steroid injections recalled by the New England Compounding Center that has been linked to the outbreak. So far, 119 cases of fungal meningitis have been reported across nine states. More than 600 people in Jersey are supposedly at risk after having received injections at one of six medical facilities in the Garden State. [NBC Philadelphia]
