When the Bullying Won’t Stop
Jamey Rodemeyer’s suicide has made international headlines after becoming yet another young victim of anti-gay bullying. Celebrities like Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin have both spoken out about the suicide, asking that bullying be made illegal. Even after the 14 year old’s death, his parents have spoken publicly about the dangers of bullying and why the cruel taunts and threats continue.
They spoke to Ann Curry on Today, wearing No H8 pins as they tell the story of how school bullies interrupted a school dance during a Lady Gaga song (Rodemeyer was a huge fan of the pop star), chanting, “You’re better off dead.”
