What We Love: Vicci Martinez

NBC’s new singing show The Voice is definitely giving American Idol a run for its money thanks to the all-ages, all-star talent on stage and in the musical chairs. We especially love Tacoma native Vicci Martinez. Not only is she a vocal powerhouse, having taking on everything from Adele to Pink, but she’s got a swagger that’s been setting off our gaydar since day one.

After Cee Lo Green (Gnarls Barkley, if you’re nasty) recently came under fire for tweeting a message last week that was interpreted as being anti-gay to a music critic, Martinez says the pint-size pop star apologized to her personally.

Martinez is one of several openly gay performers on the show, along with baldy Beverly McClellan and Nakia Reynoso (he goes simply by Nakia – how very Cher of him) – who are each receiving top votes and praise from fans and coaches alike.
