Abington gets in on Gay Pride Month with Kickoff to Equality: A Celebration (11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) an event bringing attention to equal rights protection at the Abington Township Building. Special guests include State Rep. Josh Shapiro, Equality PA President and GALLOP Chair Brian Sims and many others – including the Spiral Q puppets. It’s an all ages event.
The Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus pays homage to boy bands in MMM Bop! Best of the Boy Bands (8-10 p.m.) at the Temple Performing Arts Center. Expect to hear everything from Franki Valli to the Jonas Brothers.
The Penn Jersey Roller Derby holds a fundraiser at North Star Bar (8 p.m.-1 a.m.) with music by Bednarik, Home School Drop Outs, Cow Pals, A Dream Worth Dying for and others.
It’s all about drag during Shots! (9 p.m.-12 a.m.) a fundraiser for the Mt. Airy Family Practice at Voyeur featuring the Liberty City Kings and many more.
Mesh (10 p.m.) comes to Dahlak, an Ethiopian eatery and bar on Baltimore Avenue.
Beagle Tavern welcomes Lady Tabitha and guests for an evening of drag (10-11:30 p.m.).
Club Rose on Hunting Park Avenue opens its doors for a weekly LGBT party – Stimulating Saturdays (10 p.m.) – not to be confused with one of our favorite monthly parties Stimulus.
Sunday, June 19
ICandy opens for brunch starting at noon with bottomless Bloody Mary’s and mimosas and omelet and waffle stations.
Set sail during the Big Gay Boat Party (6-11 p.m.) a tea dance on the Moshulu.
