Pulse: Previews: Emmylou + Elvis

Despite two dozen-plus records and more than three decades as an incomparably
alluring stage presence, Emmylou Harris leaves her most indelible mark as our greatest living backup singer. Over the years, Harris’s vocals have blended with an impressive roster of duet partners: Gram Parsons, Neil Young, Little Feat, Tammy Wynette, Luscious Jackson, Dave Matthews. Now her vocal promiscuity has led her out on a summer tour with the venerable Elvis Costello. Harris shimmers through three songs on Costello’s new Southern-rooted album The Delivery Man, and recaptures the studio magic with Costello and his Imposters by settling into her comfortable place at the backing mike.
