TOY to be Held at Fire & Ice This Year

To celebrate its eighth anniversary, TOY, Delaware Valley Legacy Fund‘s annual charity gala for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), will move from Reading Terminal Market, where it has been held for the past two years, to Fire & Ice in Old City.

I don’t know about you, but I was surprised to hear it was moving. It really seemed like the event was becoming synonymous with RTM, where people would gather after hours to hobnob and bring toys that would be donated to the pediatric HIV/AIDS unit at CHOP. It was fabulous there. Why is it moving?

DVLF was happy with the experience we had having TOY at Reading  Terminal Market, but after two years there we wanted a change of scenery,” says DVLF Executive Director and TOY co-organizer Samantha Giusti. [The change] is timely since we’ve also created a new logo (right). We’re just freshening things up a bit.”

Giusti says Fire & Ice, which hosts a handful of LGBT-centric parties each year, will be transformed into a “virtual winter wonderland.” If you haven’t been there, it’s a fantastic, open space, with plenty of floor area for dancing, and a nice balcony overlooking the main level.

No matter where it’s located, TOY is one of late-fall’s must-must-do events. It’s happening Saturday, December 6th, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets, which cost $79 each, can be purchased here. To get in, you also need to bring an unopened toy that will be given to a child at CHOP over the holidays.
