Juniper Commons Is Closing

Kevin Sbraga’s salute to the 1980s is closing. Juniper Commons will close after service on Saturday, May 30th. The restaurant at Broad and South will shutter after less than six months. Although the 80s theme was highly anticipated, it was not well received by critics who felt the concept aimed (and hit) a middlebrow bulls-eye.

The Sbraga Dining organization issued the following statement:

Chef Kevin Sbraga and Sbraga Dining have made the very tough decision to close Juniper Commons for business. We would like to thank our amazing team who took the journey wiht us as well as all the guests who have shared in our experiences. We look forward to a bright future in Philadelphia and to a continued relationship with all the diners.

No indication has been given for what might happen to the space, which is at the base of Carl Dranoff’s SouthStar Lofts.

Juniper Commons is the second high profile restaurant to announce its closing this weekend. Jose Garces’s Rosa Blanca is closing on Sunday, after 15 or so months.
