Six Pack: Apples Are Everywhere

It’s Fall and apples are springing up on menus all around town. Here are six apple dishes or drinks that we’re coveting.

Victoria Freehouse is celebrating all things apple this week with a apple cider specials. But we’re most interested in trying a pork and roasted  apple pastie.

Kermit’s Bake Shoppe has ushered in fall with new hours and delivery. But what matters for this post are the pumpkin and apple blondies.

Yards Brewing and Bistrot La Minette are combining for a special dinner on October 30th. Dessert will consist of a Tarte au Fromage Blanc (Cheese tart, apple purée, spice bread crumbs) paired with Yardbird Abbey Dubble.

The Fair Food Farmstand in the Reading Terminal Market currently has nine different varieties of apples, from Fuji to Winesap. So get over there and get to pie or cider making.

Speaking of cider, we can’t get enough of Philadelphia Brewing Co.’s Commonwealth Cider line, especially the Gregarious Ginger, which adds bite to the apple’s tartness.

And finally, head to Fond and try their escargot with bacon, apple and butternut squash.
