Fall Festivals All Around Philadelphia


This morning we sat down to compile a list of some fun Oktoberfests and harvest festivals happening in and around town. A couple of dozen events later we realize that fall IS festival time. Check out all the events, there is certainly one or three for everyone.

Ongoing Oktoberfest Events

Brauhaus Schmitz – Through Thursday, September 26
South Street’s German bar and restaurant is going all out with special events every night through September 26th. The big event is the block party on Saturday, September 21st but don’t sleep on Big in Munich, the industry band playing tomorrow night in the brauerbund.

Frankford Hall – Through Friday, September 27
Two full weeks of Oktoberfest festivities at Fishtown’s Frankford Hall. The big block party is on Saturday, September 21st and there are also events for kids and a special Victory keg preview night.

McGillin’s – Through October 6
Culminating in the Midtown Village Fall Festival, Philadelphia’s oldest bar is celebrating Oktoberfest with tons of German beers and food specials.

Saturday, September 21

German Society Oktoberfest
A traditional Oktoberfest at the German Society on Spring Garden Street.

Manayunk StrEat Festival
Main Street in Manayunk will be lined with food trucks and restaurant stands. Look for farmers markets and gourmet food vendors as well.

Morgan’s Pier Oktoberfest
Warm spiked drinks, housemade charcuterie and sausages right off the grill.

Pennsylvania Horticultural Fall Garden Festival at the Navy Yard
The festival offers music, food, plants, shopping, workshops, gardening tips, and children’s activities at the Navy Yard.

Sunday, September 22

Hop Angel Brauhaus
This fall, Hop Angel Brauhaus is festing four times. First up is a pumpkin fest with pumpkin beer, pumpkin food and all-round pumpkin fun.

Wursthaus Schmitz
Celebrate Oktoberfest at the Reading Terminal Market with German specialties, live music and the world’s smallest Beer Garden.

Yards Smoke ‘Em If Youse Got ‘Em
The afternoon festival features smoked beers from around the world paired with the best barbecue in the region.

Thursday, September 26

Cedar Point Bar + Kitchen
Oktoberfest beers and German food specials dominate the day.

Earth Bread + Brewery
Oktoberfest beers from Ayinger, Hacker-Pschorr, Great Lakes and Stoudts.

Friday, September 27 – Sunday, October 13

Iron Hill at Iron Hill Brewery Locations
All Iron Hill locations will celebrate Oktoberfest with Bavarian fare and Oktoberfest beers.

Saturday, September 28

Ardmore Oktoberfest
Cricket Avenue in Ardmore closes down for an outdoor Oktoberfest.

Greensgrow Farm Fall Festival
Local food trucks, a chili competition, pumpkin carving and more.

Hop Angel Brauhaus
Hop Angel’s second fall festival is an Oktoberfest celebration. The indoor/outdoor festival featuring Oktoberfest beers. Free sandwiches for anyone attending in dirndl or lederhosen.

Pour the Core: Cider Festival
30+ ciders to sample at this cider festival down at the Philadelphia Navy Yard.

Sunday, September 29th

43rd German – American Steuben Parade and Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest celebration at the Bavarian Volksfest Verein on the grounds of the United German-Hungarian Club.

Tuesday, October 1

Bru Craft & Wurst
It’s an open bar party where your $40 ticket get you all-you-can-drink drafts from Avery Brewing Company, a souvenir glass and choice of a Bavarian pretzel, a bratwurst sandwich or Bru fries. Those without tickets may enjoy an assortment of German eats on special for $5 a piece.

Saturday, October 5

Hop Angel Brauhaus
Hop Angel’s third festival is dedicated to the apple. As you might expect there will be apple ciders and we’re betting an apple pie or two.

The Institute
80 pumpkin beers, ciders, lambics & sours will be pouring indoors and out. Fegley’s Brew Works will also be including four to five additional exclusive pumpkin brews this year.

Memphis Taproom
Thirstoberfest is a fun time but also a bit sad as the event marks the closing of Memphis Taproom’s beer garden. Twenty-five beers from Memphis’ favorite local and stateside craft breweries along with some super rare international goodies will be pouring.

Narberth Oktoberfest
It is the third annual Narberth Oktoberfest with local beers, live music, and festival food, including a pig roast.

King of Prussia Beerfest Royale
Beer fest with with two sessionsoffering unlimited access to over 50+ brewers featuring over 100 different beers. There will be two tents with live music on two stages and an outdoor beer garden.

Sunday, October 6

“Distinguished” Oktoberfest at the Cambridge
This event will be a departure from the more rowdy street festivals around town.

Midtown Village Fall Festival
Eight blocks of food, drink and fun at Philadelphia’s biggest fall festival

Saturday, October 12

Hop Angel Brauhaus
The Northeast Philadelphia bar is promising a harvest festival to finish out its four fall festivals. Details to come.

Reading Terminal Market Harvest Festival
Filbert Street will be closed to traffic and transformed into an urban farm with hay bales and corn stalks. There will be hay rides, a pumpkin patch, freshly made donuts, candy apples, and more.

Saturday, October 19

South Street West throws one hell of a block party between Broad and 18th Streets. The festival always has lots of great live music and beer.
