Hundreds of Dead Fish Wash Up on Cape May County Beach

The dead fish came from a fishing boat's ripped net, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection officials say.

Hundreds of dead fish washed onto a beach down the shore in Cape May Point, KYW 1060 reports.

Don’t get too terrified, though: Environmental Protection officials believe the fish weren’t killed by any environmental disaster. The culprit is a fishing boat’s ripped net.

There are no plans to clean up the fish, so they’ll just drift back out to sea eventually. Enjoy your weekend if you’re headed to Cape May Point! The town’s dry, so you won’t even have alcohol to comfort you.
