The 2015 race for Philadelphia’s 2nd Councilmanic District seat was always going to be a little nuts. Ori Feibush, the controversial real estate developer and occasional murderer-catcher, is challenging incumbent Kenyatta Johnson, at whom he has lobbed such insults as “terrible human being” and “poverty pimp.”

Now it’s poised to get even wilder: The Philadelphia Ethics Board announced Tuesday that the campaign contribution limits for the 2nd Council District race have doubled because Feibush has donated more than $250,000 of his own money to his campaign.

The contribution limits are increasing from $2,900 to $5,800 for individuals, and from $11,500 to $23,000 for political committees and unincorporated business organizations. According to a press releases from the Ethics Board, those limits will remain doubled even if Feibush drops out of the race.
