“Oh the weather outside is frightful, but seasonal facials and massages are so delightful.” Wait, that’s not how the song goes. Clearly, our minds are focused on relaxing and beautifying services that integrate wintry ingredients or scents, emphasize the chilly temps, or warm us up when things get a little too blustery. Below, find seven winter-inspired beauty treatments available at spas and salons this season in and around Philadelphia.
Peppermint foot massage
Fabriq Spa offers a peppermint foot massage that can be added onto any treatment. (In these chilly months, the hot stone massage sounds like pure bliss!) In 15 minutes, you’ll enjoy an exfoliating scrub made with sugar and peppermint oil, followed by a peppermint-infused massage that’ll leave your feet feeling candy-cane fresh. $30; 728 South 4th Street, Queen Village
Winter glow facial
The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia recently introduced a Winter Glow Facial onto its menu of blissful treatments. Great for dried-out skin that typically accompanies colder weather, the 60-minute facial is meant to keep you super hydrated, thanks to 97-percent skin-identical collagen and a stimulating thermal-active mask. Plus, you’ll receive a complimentary TheraFace enhancement, a percussive skincare tool meant to promote optimal muscle rejuvenation and can help reduce puffiness with built-in cooling. $295-345; 1 North 19th Street, floor 57, Logan Circle
Mint chocolate pedicure
Throughout the month of December, enjoy the “Mint Chocolate Mistle-Toes” pedicure at The Body Serene Day Spa and Salon in Skippack. The service screams luxurious and holiday delight, as it begins with a butter brûlée soak. Then, your dried-out feet and legs will be exfoliated and moisturized with a fine-grain sweet cream salt scrub before being painted with a nutrient- and antioxidant-rich hot chocolate mask and massaged with a minty shea butter. Ooh la la! $70; 4007 Skippack Pike, Skippack
Winterberry body scrub
At all three locations of Joseph Anthony, book the winterberry body scrub. It includes all the best seasonal scents, including red currant, juniper, black currant and peppermint. Plus, the fragrance oil is infused with natural essential oils like lemongrass, fir needle and orange, making for a totally festive spa experience. $80-$125; Multiple locations
Peppermint dry-brush massage
Nirvana Wellness Med Spa has just put together a dry-brush massage for the holiday season — one whose massage lotion is infused with peppermint essential oil. Over the course of 80 minutes, your skin will feel refreshed and invigorated, as the dry brush works to stimulate the major systems of your body (think: lymphatic, circulatory, nervous, and digestive systems). Bonus: You’ll go home with your own dry brush! $170; 925 North 2nd Street, Northern Liberties
Head-to-toe renewal
This winter, AWAY Spa at W Philadelphia is highlighting its head-to-toe renewal package, which is perfect for winter, if you ask us. The two-in-one service includes AWAY Spa’s 80-minute “Rewind” facial — which includes a double peel and a lifting mask — followed by their “Quench” body treatment, which features a moisture-restoring mask. If you book it during December, you’ll also receive a complimentary eye-recovery enhancement and a take-home gift of glow-worthy skincare products. Want to maximize your time there? Book their new Cozy Up cabana package ($45 per person), which includes access to the WET Deck’s outdoor heated (!) pool, tableside s’mores, and a warm-tea alcoholic or zero-proof cocktail. $345; 1439 Chestnut Street, Center City
Cold-temp facial
In addition to their winterberry body scrub, Joseph Anthony also recently introduced the Cryo Gloss — a.k.a. the “Glacial” — facial. (Say that five times fast!) The brand-new treatment uses Cryomodulation, a cooling technology intended to lighten and/or remove age spots, even complexion, reduce inflammation, and tighten and sculpt the skin on your face. Sometimes, the cold can be good for you. (Note: The Cryo Gloss facial is not offered at the Glen Mills location.) $250; 1200 Market Street, 5th floor, Market East and 400 West Sproul Road, Springfield
