Here in Philly, there’s rarely a lack of cheap (or free!) workouts going on around the city — which totally helps to supplement all those $30 boutique fitness classes. Whether you’re looking for a workout on the cheap or you’re looking to plug into the local fitness community, these seven local stores boast community fitness calendars filled with weekly workouts, outdoor excursions, and runs that are totally open to the public (and that means you!).

Athleta
1722 Walnut Street, Rittenhouse

Athleta has stepped up their fitness calendar game in a BIG way lately and we are SO here for it. With at least two events planned every weekend and one additional event during the week, it seems like there’s always something to do at this local fitness hub. Signing up for their emails is a great way to stay in the know for Athleta’s upcoming events — and we don’t say that often.

Honeygrow
Multiple locations

HgAthletics, which is Honeygrow’s fitness arm, has a hand in nearly every pot — pop-up yoga, run clubs, outdoor boot camps, and more. Visit their Facebook events page frequently; some super-neat events (think: rooftop yoga) tend to fill up quickly. A bonus perk of rolling with the HgAthletics crew is you get 20 percent off your post-workout meal. Score!

Philadelphia Runner
Multiple locations

From groups runs (like, SO many group runs) to yoga for runners and track workouts, Philadelphia Runner provides the tools (sneakers and such) and the community that help make running in Philadelphia so great. Added bonus: Since they have four locations, their events happen all over the city, making the fun super accessible for folks from all different ‘hoods.

Lululemon
Multiple locations

Lululemon has a slew of locations in Philly and ‘burbs (Walnut Street, Fishtown, Cherry Hill, Suburban Square, Glen Mills, and more), and they are known for hosting events both in-store and outside of it (hey, free popsicle boot camp!). Your best bet for tracking their workouts down is to keep an eye on their respective Facebook events pages.

L.L. Bean
160 North Gulph Road, King of Prussia

Who knew the purveyor of your trusty duck boots also hosts a whole slew of outdoorsy fitness events? I sure didn’t. Sunrise kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding “SUP with your pup” events (really!), and archery are a few of the adventurous fitness events L.L. Bean brings to the table. And even better: A good chunk of the events are free.

New Balance
1615 Walnut Street, Rittenhouse

Every Sunday morning, the New Balance run club ventures out on a three-to five-mile run followed by some light refreshments at the store.

REI
200 West Ridge Pike, Conshohocken

REI has your back when it comes to survival necessities from their aisles upon aisles (upon aisles) of gear to classes teaching the basics of camping and map/compass navigation. They also host kayaking lessons and organized hikes to help you get  fit in the great outdoors.
