The Philly Fitness Cheat Sheet: Where City Fit Girls’ Kiera Smalls Likes to Sweat

She shares her favorite Philly fitness spots.

For this week’s edition of the Philly Fitness Cheat Sheet, we’ve got City Fit Girls cofounder Kiera Smalls dishing on her favorite hidden fitness gem in Philly (runners, take note!), her tops picks for where to sweat around town, where she goes when she’s itching for a fitness-filled getaway, and more. Check out her intel below.

What’s the best spot in Philly to squeeze in a sweat session?

I love a good sweat session at Body Cycle Studio or Flywheel. The 45-minute class time and low-impact nature of the workouts allow me to pop in during my lunch break, and a class helps keep my energy up for the rest of the day. Plus, the instructors are super nice and motivational!

What’s your favorite healthy meal around town?

I absolutely love sweetgreen. They have such a creative menu selection, and I appreciate that they create their menu based on what’s in season.

What’s Philly’s greatest hidden fitness gem?

The Run215 website and Facebook group. You can find info about run groups in the city, upcoming races, and get your running questions answered. It’s a great community to be a part of.

Best spot for a fitness-filled weekend getaway?

Washington, D.C. — running through the National Mall is amazing. I’d recommend a late night run to avoid tourists and traffic. And at night, the monuments are lit up — simply breathtaking.

What’s the one thing every fitness lover in Philly has to do at least once?

Kettlebell Blast with Sgt. Nate Griffin of Professional Touch Fitness. I learned about this studio through ClassPass while looking for a more challenging workout, and I definitely got what I was looking for. The sessions are small which is great because he keeps a close eye on everyone and their form. If you want a challenge, I highly recommend trying his workouts.
