The Checkup: Women Work Out Harder Than Men, Study Says

• At the risk of sounding all “nanny nanny boo boo,” I give you this: a new study which found that (gasp!) women tend to go harder than men during workouts. The study, which used subjects who were experienced runners and compared their output during a series of four-minute intervals, found that when asked to go as hard as they could possibly muster, the ladies ran at a higher percentage of their maximum heart rate (about 97 percent) than the men (92 percent). Conclusion? Nanny nanny boo boo. (That’s a technical term, I believe.)  [Q by Equinox]
