Be Well Boot Camp 2013: What to Know Before You Go

Some last minute details for Be Well Boot Camp to make sure your ultimate girls' day out for health and wellness is headache-free

Ladies! It’s almost here! I am literally counting down the minutes until Be Well Boot Camp 2013, which official kicks off tomorrow morning. Are you so, so excited?!

Before the fun begins, I wanted to remind you of a few things to know before you go. So listen up, class.

1. Boot Camp starts at 9 a.m.!

Yes, yes, the first classes on the schedule start at 10, but we’re opening the doors at 9 tomorrow morning for registration and breakfast. We want to make sure you have enough time to check in and get the lay of the land before the first session gets underway. From 9 to 10, we’ll also have breakfast snacks in the Marketplace, courtesy of Pure Fare, Sweet Freedom Bakery and KIND Snacks, so you can fuel up for the morning fitness classes. The first cooking demo and Focused Fitness Clinic with Meredith Rudh of UnitedHealthcare will start at 9:30, too, so consider yourself entertained. At about 9:50—10 minutes before the first sessions begin —Mix 106.1’s Donna Storm will lead a quick stretch to get you ready for the day. All this to say? Get there at 9, ladies.

2. Bring your own mat, and wear workout clothes.

If you signed up for a Lithe Method or Pure Barre or are planning on taking yoga or Pilates (note: the first two are full, but preregistration is not required for the last two), be sure to bring your own mat. For the other fitness classes, all you need are your sneaks. And since a few people have asked, I will tell you the dress code: Your most comfortable t-shirt and yoga pants or workout shorts. This is a day of fitness, ya’ll—so get ready to sweat, and dress for it!

3. How to get there and where to park.

We’re taking over Drexel University’s state-of-the-art Recreation Center for Be Well Boot Camp. It’s located at 3301 Market Street. You’ll enter at the doors at 33rd and Market. If you’re coming via public transit, you can get there easily from the SEPTA Trolley Green Line at 33rd and Market Streets and Market-Frankford Blue Line at 34th and Market Streets. If you’re driving, you may be able to find street parking in University City, but otherwise there’s a parking garage on Ludlow Street between 33rd and 34th streets.

5. Join us for a Healthy Happy Hour at 3.

Good things come to those who wait, right? Right. At 2:45, we’ll gather at the Cooking Demo Stage to pull names for our raffle drawings (enter at the Be Well Philly table in the Marketplace!). Then, we’ll all head over to Landmark Americana, which is in the Rec Center, for skinny cocktails and healthy eats. Because we think all good days should end with happy hour.

6. We’re on rain or shine!

I’ve been doing my best no-rain-on-Saturday dance (that’s a thing, right?) for the past week, and according to the latest reports, it looks like it’s going to pay off! But even if we do get a few sprinkles tomorrow, not to worry: Our Subaru Outdoor Fitness Area will be covered by a massive tent, so all those outdoor fitness classes are a go no matter what. And all of the other activities are indoors, so we’re safe. Yay!
