To Do: MudManX Mud Run

Conquer the elements in a mud run that'll rattle you head to toe. Then party.

The MudManX Mud Run is happening on July 28th in Manchester, New Jersey, and it sounds like this course will rock your body more than Justin Timberlake’s 2003 single. Designed with the help of U.S. Special Forces, the obstacles are inspired by earth’s four primary elements: earth, wind, fire and water. Participants will battle it out with dense mud pits, fiery trails, ice cold water and, at the end, a first-ever wind obstacle called “CategoryX.” (Details are top secret ’til race day.)

The intense 8- to 10-kilometer circuit is meant to bring competitors back to the early days of mankind, when grappling with nature was imperative to survival. For the more aggressive challengers, the run will be timed and cash and prizes will be awarded to the fastest three finishers. But it’s not all about fitness and prizes; MudManX donates a percentage of all event proceeds to the American Red Cross, too.

Afterwards, check out the Xtreme after party, an all-day festival with live music, food, beer, games and the “MiniX” course for the kids (future competitors, perhaps?) to try out. Registration is open until midnight on July 25th. For more event information, click here.

$95, Saturday, July 28, race begins at 9 a.m., 750 Whiting New Egypt Road, Manchester, NJ.
