Here’s How to Turn a One-Night Escape Into a Full Vacation

Zero PTO left? If you’ve got a weekend, you can still have a vacation.
We asked Cait Vogel how to fit a great getaway into the shortest possible amount of time. Her answer was simple: find good food, add a little pampering, and overpack your suitcase—not your schedule.
Cait’s stay at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa checked every box for a perfect summer weekend, all under one roof. With no need to build an itinerary or search for the next place to go, she and her partner had more time to slow down and reconnect.

“Honestly, we loved that everything was all in one place,” she says. “We spent the day at the pool, had an amazing couples’ massage, and ended the night with one of the best dinners we’ve had in a long time, all without ever leaving the property.”
Here is how she made the most of her stay—and what she recommends experiencing during your own Borgata getaway.
Start With Time to Unwind
Rather than packing every hour with activities, Cait and her partner settled into a slower pace. They spent the day soaking up the sun by the pool before heading to Spa Toccare for a couples massage.

“For us, a great vacation is pretty simple: good food, a little pampering, and time to actually relax together,” she says. “This trip checked every box.”
Plus, she notes, indoor and outdoor pools make it an ideal escape even when the weather is not on your side.
Make Dinner a Special Occasion
For Cait, the standout meal of the trip featured Wagyu mini cheesesteaks, filet and lobster tail at B-Prime Steakhouse.

“Do not skip B-Prime,” she says. “It was hands down one of the best meals we’ve ever had.”
A multi-course dinner can feel like a true luxury when kids and a sitter are waiting at home. With a weekend to yourselves, a night at B-Prime offers the kind of indulgent meal where time slows down enough to linger, catch up and enjoy every course.
Enjoy Zero-Proof Options
“For me, being sober doesn’t stop me from doing anything,” Cait says. “I just appreciate when places put thought into options beyond alcohol.”
At The Sunroom, she found mocktail versions of selections from the cocktail menu. Her favorites included the Lavender Lemonade and Dragon Fruit Spritz.

“Both were so good that I never felt like I was missing out on the experience,” she says.
Leave Room for a Slow Morning
One of Cait’s go-to getaway tips? Order in-room service.

“We loved the views so much that we ordered room service the next morning just so we could enjoy one last slow morning,” she says.
That final morning captured what she appreciated most about the getaway: the ability to pause, spend meaningful time together and return home feeling refreshed, without the planning required for a longer vacation.

“We spent the day soaking up the sun by the pool, ate our way through some incredible restaurants, and wrapped everything up with a couples massage at Spa Toccare,” she says. “No notes.”
