Amy Poehler & Carrie Brownstein Performed an Impromptu Wedding Ceremony at a Book Reading in California
During a book reading and Q&A session in California yesterday, author/musician/actress Carrie Brownstein and her co-host Amy Poehler were caught by surprise when a couple in the audience asked if Brownstein would marry them in an impromptu wedding ceremony right there on stage.
Kendall Oshiro and Genevieve Hernandez had heard that the author was recently ordained, so they showed up to the event prepared with their marriage license in hopes that Brownstein would perform their ceremony. And she did—after discussing her new book, Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl: A Memoir, Brownstein ran offstage to put together a little speech for the couple (Poehler hopped on the piano to entertain the crowd in the meantime) and then married them in a quick 10-minute ceremony.
