Radnor Red Steeplechase Run, October 11th 2009
This is no ordinary 5K race; last year’s winner received bobble-head trophies. There is the 5K run as well as an untimed walking option for only a $10 donation. The run supports Students Run Philly Style, the only program in Philadelphia that offers marathon training to young people.

Great Strides 5K Run & 1-Mile Walk, October 11, 2009
Help raise Autism awareness by taking part in a 5K run or a 1-mile walk through beautiful Tyler State Park. T-shirts are guaranteed for all registrations received before September 28th, and awards are given out for the top three competitors in age-based categories.

Step for Survival 5K Race and Dog Walk, October 17, 2009
Animal Coalition of Delaware County invites you and your canine friend to participate in their fundraiser.  The coalition aids in finding foster homes for homeless pets until they can be adopted.  It’s a great cause, and you were going to walk you dog anyway, right?

Time: Registration 12:00 p.m.; Start 1:00 p.m.
Cost: $20 / $25 day of

Kids Chance 5K Walk/Run, October 18, 2009
You can walk or run, and the later start time is ideal for a great afternoon family event. Your registration fee includes a t-shirt and a donation to a good cause. Kids Chance of PA helps provide financial assistance for college to children whose parents have been killed or seriously injured at work. They previously have done a 5K in Harrisburg; this is their first year doing the run in Philadelphia. You have until Saturday, October 17th, at 11:59 p.m. to register.

Rest in Peace 5K Run, October 18 2009
If you need something to shake up your cardio routine, a full 5K through a cemetery is it. But don’t worry, it’s not as scary as it sounds. Laurel Hill Cemetery is a unique spot full of history, art, and botanical beauty.  It is listed as a Historical Landmark and nicknamed Philadelphia’s Underground Museum.  The run is a charity for Friends of Laurel Hill and Back on My Feet, a non-profit organization that promotes the self-sufficiency of the homeless by engaging them in running.
