Philly Band Low Cut Connie Makes Obama’s Summer Playlist

They're in the company of Aretha Franklin, Bob Dylan and Frank Sinatra. Not too shabby.

United States President Barack Obama has released a summer playlist featuring songs he suggests for your listening pleasure, and Philadelphia band Low Cut Connie made the cut.

Obama released a daytime playlist and a nighttime playlist via the Spotify streaming music service. Low Cut Connie’s critically acclaimed song “Boozophilia” appears on the daytime list along with “Gimme Shelter” by the Rolling Stones, “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” by the Temptations, and “Another Star” by Stevie Wonder.

“We are speechless and honored and humbled and ecstatic and confused,” the band announced via Facebook. Check out the full playlists below, and be sure to read our interview with lead singer Adam Weiner, who recently told us why he turned down a spot on NBC’s The Voice.
