Star Wars Day Coming to Please Touch Museum

The force will get a little stronger in Philadelphia when the Please Touch Museum celebrates all things Star Wars on Sunday, August 23. Journey on a galactic adventure through exhibits that feature rare Star Wars memorabilia, including an R2D2 unit that visitors can maneuver with a remote control.

Star Wars characters from the 501 Garrison Carida (stormtroopers!) will stroll around the building throughout the day, so be sure to snap a photo or challenge them to a lightsaber duel if you’re so inclined. Garrison Carida is a chapter of the 501st Legion participating in charity and non-profit events throughout Pennsylvania, Delaware and West Virginia. The characters will lead activities that include painting a giant model of the Millennium Falcon and playing with Star Wars-themed toys.

Visitors are encouraged to come dressed as a favorite Star Wars character. However, if you’re missing essential Jedi knight accessories, the museum will have plenty regalia for guests to try on. Kids will be welcomed on the dancefloor at the end of the day to complete their adventure at a “Far, Far Out Dance Party” that will be held in Hamilton Hall.

The Please Touch Museum has celebrated Star Wars Days in the past, but the anticipation of the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens should have fans that much more pumped to attend. The event is included in the Please Touch Museum’s regular admission price.
